I used to post on here a lot but then I had a bad viral infection. This has left me with failure of my autonomic nervous system and abnormal muscle function associated with elevated Creatine Kinase.
My friend Jon Gay is planning to run the gruelling Highlander Mountain Marathon with his friend Peter Ward in aid of MEResearch UK a charity that funds high quality medical research into the causes of myalgic encephalomyelitis. Details of the race can be found here:
As some of you may know Jon single handedly helped organise my rescue when I collapsed on a peak above base-camp in the Tien Shan. Neurological investigation in the capital Almaty indicated a problem with the blood supply to my brain. In the UK it took a further 3 years to reach the same diagnosis and then only with research and treatment funded by MEResearch UK.
Thanks to this I am now receiving excellent treatment at the hands of a number of outstanding physicians.
I would be grateful if you could forward this letter on to friends and colleagues. ME Research UK has made a big difference to my quality of life- hopefully it can do the same for many other people also.

£10 on its way, not the biggest donation by any means but it's all this poor student could afford. my mum works in an infectious diseases department in the uk specialising in ME so i'm fairly well schooled on how hard it can make life.
