Anyone know if it's still possible to buy full length climbing/walking socks, preferably the type with sort of cushioned soles like Bridgedale. I only seem to be able to find short ones.

Try skiing socks? I have a couple of pairs of those and they're up to me knees and rare and warm and have been used whilst out walking and climbing? Just an idea

In reply to nonymouse: smartwool make some long socks think they call them mountaneering ones.

Think you can, if not in climbing shops try huntin-shootin-fishin shops, or ask a shepherd where he gets his from.

In reply to nonymouse: if your talking up to you knees ones for breeches then i think you'll struggle. I use thorlo mountaineering ones which seem to be reasonably available and get half way up my longish calfs

Skiing ones are useless - they wear out in no time. What you need is these

Last well and are long enough.

Shooting ones tend not to have loop stitch feet, and you pay for the twiddly bits around the top.
