Learning or improving your rock climbing skills in Scotland offers remote and wilderness settings as the classroom. No queues for your route, no race to get there or pressure to finish. No access problems and WOW is it Beautifull!

The ratio of 1:2 instruction means you have maximum attention and learning opportunites and the full use of top of the range equipment from our fully equipped stores.

ROCK COURSES FOR THE SUMMER IN SCOTLAND


Learn to Rock Climb
Over the 5 days this course will cover rock climbing movement techniques;
belaying (holding falls and lowering); personal abseiling and there may be opportunities to experience multi-pitch climbs.
Pre-requisites: None, just have a good head for heights.
Dates: May 25-29 / Jun 1-5, 15-19, 22-26 /Jul 13-17, 27-31 /Aug 10-14, 24-28 /

Learn to Lead Climb
Develop a confident and competent approach to leading summer climbs through
placing protection; constructing belays; stance and rope management;
leading and psychological coping strategies.
Pre-requisites: Experience of climbing outdoors or leading indoors, and a desire
to try climbing on the sharp end.
Dates: Jun 23-27 /Jul 7-11,21-25 /Aug 4-8, 18-22 /Sep 1-5, 22-26

Introduction to Rock Climbing
A short but intensive course covering rock climbing movement techniques;

Rock Improver
This week will develop the techniques for climbing multi-pitch climbs in a variety
of environments through: use of double rope technique; stance and rope management; developing leading strategies; escaping from multi-pitch routes; self-rescue techniques such as hoists and lowers.
Pre-requisites: A minimum experience of leading single-pitch VDiff climbs and an understanding of basic ropework and belay techniques.

Safe Ropework and Gear Placement
A one day top tips and handy hints course covering ropework & belay set ups;
modern protection - it’s use and abuse; all with an emphasis on simplicity and safety.
Pre-requisites: Rock climbers with experience of climbing indoors and outdoors
and a working knowledge of basic ropework and belay techniques.

Introduction to Self-Rescue
A one-day introduction to the core techniques of self-rescue on rock climbs including: retreating from a multi-pitch climb; escaping the system; basic hoist and lowering systems.
Pre-requisites: Open to anyone who enjoys climbing, you will get most out of this
day if you are lead climbing but it is not essential.

Movement on Rock
Go from stone donkey to stone monkey! This one day course will focus on developing your movement on rock by refining your climbing movement skills encouraging a flowing and confident technique.
Pre-requisites: Some experience of climbing either indoors or outdoors.

The Art of Rock Climbing
Over two intensive days our coaches work with you to unlock and develop your climbing potential through improving your movement and energy conservation; developing leading strategies and the mind game; physical and mental preparation; confidence building.
Pre-requisites: Regular experience of leading 4b or above is essential to get the most from this course.

Rock Climbing on Skye
Skye is renowned for the quality of it’s rock climbing from 1000ft classic climbs on Stron Na Ciche to atmospheric
sea cliff climbing on secluded coasts. Whilst exploring this rich variety of climbing we will cover tuition in core climbing movement skills; belaying and rope handling on multi-pitch climbs.
Pre-requisites: This is physically one of our more demanding courses with some long walk- ins to mountain crags as well as long routes on the crags. Experience of basic climbing and belay skills or scrambling with ropes.
