Ruptured my achilles tendon 8 weeks ago. I had surgery 1 week after to reattach the two ends of the tendon.

After 6.5 weeks in fixed casts i now have the cast off and have a boot which inflates just to protect myself.

The wound has healed very well and is only about 5cm long thanks to some good work by the surgeon.

The calf muscle has lost a lot of bulk and the tendon is now very short and fat. Seeing the physio tonight to begin stretching excercises.

I am hoping to be back climbing in january'09. Any advise from anyone who has had an achilles rupture would be much appreciated.

i wish it was something obvious but i was just messing about moshing and it snapped!

I think i had been overtraining getting ready for asia and had been pushing too quickly to get fit again!

Ah well there is a lesson there i suppose! just delayed the trip for the moment!
