WINTER HAS BEEN AND IS ON ITS WAY BACK TO SCOTLAND!

A week of perfect ski touring conditions and routes being done...in October! Those conditions have gone for now but the ground is ready for the next set of real winter conditions to come and settle.

• Volunteers Programme- Glenmore Lodge and Grangers are in our second year of offering NGB training and assessment courses to volunteers. This year we gave over 20 places and next year we are giving over the whole centre and offering up to 80 places at half the brochure place. If the group you volunteer for would benefit from you having qualifications for walking leader, mountain biking or paddlesport, then see the brochure and website for details.

Both organisations feel these weekends have saved lives and are delighted that they are so well attended. For more information visit http://www.mcofs.org.uk

• Ski-Mountaineering Surgery Weekend – Our annual ski surgery weekend is programmed for the end of January so it is early enough in the season for you to get the top tips for the rest of the season. Don't forget we got some of our best touring done all the way to the end of April last year! Various workshops for you to pick and choose from for the weekend. Ian Sherrington has yet again pulled in his top team for a great programme. Date Jan 24 - 25

• Travel Forum - we have encouraged the use of a travel forum to share lifts as most of you arrive for courses at the same time ie Friday nights and Sunday nights. Not only is it an environmental aid it will also help you with the petrol bills. We have upgraded the forum on the new site to make it easier.

• Instructor Development Course - new for 2009 is our 16 week instructor development course. Those of you wanting a change of career or just accelerating your career in the outdoors, this could be the course for you. Full details will be available on our website in September.
