Mastermind BBC2 last night, General Knowledge round:
John Humphries "What is the highest point of the English Lake District" Contender "Scafell"
Humphries (slight hesitation) "Correct"
Should this latitude have been allowed?

In reply to Pedro50: I noticed that. I think Humphries being unknoledgeable about such things gave some latitude which he probably shouldnt have done

In reply to Fawksey: It's probably not Humphries making the decision but the producer/researcher elsewhere making the call - apparently this is what Paxman is doing on University Challenge when he seems to waiver about any answers not on the card; he's waiting for a decision from upon high.

Given that Humphrys can't even tell the time correctly in his day job, I'm not at all surprised.

I agree completely, I actually screamed "NO" at the Television. Fortunately it didn't affect the result.
