Does anyone have any advice on what intro to winter courses are good?
Can anyone recommend a good place to train with in Wales (apart fom PYB)? Are these courses any good or would I really have to go upto Scotland? (although this would probably be double the price with the train fair!!)
Cheers

Being realistic, Scotland is the only place where you get winter for long enough spells to make the risk of booking worthwhile. PyB bus their students up there.

Years back, I did a basic course with someone I found in the small ads in a walking mag and very good it was too - basics of winter navigation, reading snow etc.

If you go to Glenmore Lodge (or another Aviemore-based oufit) you can get a train single for £27.50 each way, if you book in advance. Or you could go to Pitlochry for a course by Steve Spalding, a great chap.

Its a lot cheaper to get two advance singles than to get a return.
