My climbing partner dropped 2 of my quickdraws on the weekend from about 20m. One hit dirt, the other rock. The only visible damge is a few scratches. Is there any hard-fast rule on when to replace dropped biners?

It suggests that you don't need to replace either as long as there are no visible weaknesses caused by the drop.

Though I would replace it if you no longer trust it.

Depends on what sort of dirt. Cow pat or horse manure is probably OK, but I would loath to even pick it up out of a pile of dog sh%t or worse still human

In reply to Paul Stenhouse: cost of quick draw <£20. cost of life >£20.

should be ok but paint them an odd colour or something so you know they are the suspect ones
