Having to work back on the North German Plains again, this time for 2 weeks.

I was considering hiring a car at 4 pm Friday, driving down to the alps, 2 days running on the trails, driving back Sunday night/monday morning.

Silly idea? Looking at it it looks a similar proposition to doing A Skye Visit from here for the weekend, so 8-9 hrs of driving.

Where would be easiest to get too?

I was thinking Stubai Valley? Any others?

Which part of the alps would be closest, want good trails to run on?

Cheers

In reply to IainRUK:

I used to drive from Paderborn to Oberstdorf on the German/Austrian border most weekends. Plenty of mountains there for you to run around on. There is also the Karwendelbirge just further on.

Other alternative, is to head to Garmisch Partenkirchen around the Zugspitze area, lovely place and plenty of things to do.

Locally, if you are in Northern Germany and you don't want to travel too far, you can go to the Harz mountains. Lower level but I'm sure you can beast yourself on the trails!

Have a good time Ian.
In reply to Atholl de-Saint-Croix: looked at Harz, just fancy the longer trip, more for feasibility in case I do move over.
