The Keswick Wall has been built and currently educational groups can use the Wall but not individuals. Don't as why !

There is a planning application in to allow individuals to use the Wall however the Planning Office (Nick Thompson) has put forward that this be refused - indicating that the Wall should be in Keswick and not in the country (why can groups use it then ?) One would also have thought that in order to help with the "Outdoor Experience" of climbing then having the Wall in the countryside (like the Beacon Climbing Wall in Wales) must be a good thing.

There has been a meeting of the Planning Board and the Planning Committee have been to look at the new Wall. There is a Planning Meeting on WEDNESDAY 1st JULY to decide whether individuals can use the Wall. There is a limited period for speaking before the Planning Meeting and speakers have been identified for this - however it would help with the case if as many people (climbers etc) can attend the meeting (in the gallery) to indicate support of the application.

If you are able and willing to attend, the meeting is at the Lake District Special Planning Board offices at Murley Moss - off Oxenholme Road - in Kendal - this is near Asda and further out of town past the Kendal Leisure Centre - used for the Kendal Film Festival

The time is 10.00am - Wednesday 1st July
