Good running shorts?

I'm too embarrassed to wear the classic skimpy running shorts (the ones with slits right up to the waist)... Can anyone recommend a nice light pair of shorts that aren't so indecent? Need to have good wicking properties, and that won't rub on 3-4 hr runs?

Thanks!

Short shorts are the way forwards. I've had a few longer pairs, but none as comfy as a short pair of Nike or Adidas running shorts. Seriously they have become popular because they do work. It took me a good year to make the step but once you've worn running shorts they become the norm.

If you have the money, GORE do a cracking pair. I've ran 3 marathons in these and still get no chaffing. I used to end up with rather raw thighs, but nort anymore.

If I didn't have to buy a bed/fridge/washing machine etc, I'd happily buy another pair!

I have a pair of Raidlight Short Trail shorts http://www.likeys.com/acatalog/Raidlight_Clothing.html (scroll down)

I don't think they are skimpy, they are very comfortable and have handy bits for holding energy gels/bars/choccie. I used to go running in my basketball shorts, but not any more.
In reply to stuartgmilton: 55 quid for a pair of shorts!!! I'd be hoping for a free washing machine at that price

I concur.

I've got a couple of pairs of these.

I've done marathon distance in them with no problems and for £3.99 a pair they're practically disposable.
In reply to catt: Ta, those look pretty good shorts. I hadn't come across Likeys.com before - I think my credit card is going to be suffering. grin

I couldn't get Likeys online shopping cart to work in Firefox or Internet Explorer browsers, but they were very friendly when I phoned up and ordered that way.

Cheers
