[Adam Ondra on his recent ascent of Corona, 11+ (F9a+) , Frankenjura, 3 kb]This is a video of Adam Ondra climbing in the stunning Zillertal area of Austria.

Adam is training for an upcoming World Cup competition by trying to onsight very hard routes.

yeah it's called marking the start of the climb.....something you Brits won't get.....and looks like it was done in the best possible taste!

I noticed that too and was wondering the same thing. So corporate sponsors are now tagging routes then - I'd discussed the possibility of this happening with some friends a while back, but didn't really expect it to be quite so blatant.

Its not corporate sponsorship, the route in question is called Dolby Surround and weighs in around 8C+. The marking up uses the Dolby logo, but is not sponsored by Dolby.

Competition climbing is getting so big that 'proper' climbing is now just training for the competition.

i love the bit where he says "I am an idiot"

maybe just a tad hard on himself.


oh and if anyone really thinks the Dolby corporation has an interest in an obscure piece of rock somewhere in Austria they are clearly deluded.
