I've got two of these 40l bags, one for my sports gear, and one for my trad gear. You have a look at it, it might be what you are after.

Just remember to get different coloured ones, otherwise you look like a complete numpty when you turn up at a trad crag, with just 12 quickdraws.
In reply to ojp: I like grivel - can compact the rope right down that it easily drops in my rucsac too. Big enough to fill with gear, harness etc to use for the multipitch. And it's yellow and black!

In reply to ojp: the Grivel one looks good!

I was a La Sportiva one on Banana fingers, couldnt find any reviews though. My friends got a north face bag, that i quite like thats like a satchel.

In reply to ojp: Just bought one of these: www.proadventure.co.uk/acatalog/DMM_Classic_Rope_Bag_in_Black652.html

I like it because it has comfortable shoulder straps and holds ALL the gear.

In reply to ojp: I've got a Moon rope bag it's not too bad but a little to small to fit all the gear in with the ropes. My friend has an old DMM one I believe the Needlesports sell as their own now? An that was great we manage to get everything in it with a little persuasion... Not the comfiest thing in the world if you have a decent walk in though.
Due to the size of my Moon bag though if it's a long day I tend to chuck that in my 65l rucksack and put everything in there. Extra space for food etc and warm clothes if I need them. Keeps the ropes neat so a little nicer then pulling a tangled ball out with gear hanging off.
In reply to sihills: The problem with the Ikea bag is that you can't spread it out to mark the boundaries of your territory.

In reply to ojp: I have just picked up a Rab one from Needlesports for £15. It will easily hold a 60m with gear in and has rucksack straps to carry it. Also has a nice big tarp.

I am very happy with mine.

Free P&P as well.

The moon one is an awesome bag. My girlfriend surprised me with it for Xmas and it really is perfect. Space for a 60m rope and a few draws. To be honest, if you're carrying more than that you'll likely be carrying a lot more than that and then have a crag bag aswell.

Hope that helps,

Oli
