I am looking for a Rope Bag (mum wants to buy me something for xmas, so)

I am tired of not using one and don't want to go back to using an ikea bag.

I'd like one large enough for a 60m rope, boots, harness and chalk bag.
But can reduce down if only the rope.

I quite like the idea of a shoulder strap than rucksac straps, for easier carrying with a rucsac.

Off another post here I saw this list.

I like the Pod ropebag, though not sure if it is worth more than doubel the other bags ???

Anyone used the Arc Teryx Pali Bag?

I have a red chili ropebag, (which seems very similar to the rab rope bag).
Works well and the two straps make it comfy to carry, shoes + a bottle of water and soem QD's should fit with a 60m rope.

In reply to lithos: Agreed IKEA bag is absolutely perfect...your Mum could probably even stuff it in a pocket and walk out. Good value present. However, your Mum would have to endure the living hell that is IkEa and spend hours being herded round some extended one way system while surrounded by idiots who are simply out for a family stroll.

In reply to Stuart Wildman: I really like my friends DMM bag the Needlesports one on the first link. You can fit almost everything in it we had rack shoes etc admittedly it was quite a tight fit! Not the nicest bag to wear on long walk ins but nice and solid and nothing to really go wrong on it.

Got a Moon bag myself whilst it is a decent bag not the biggest and after a bit of use I still prefer my mates.

Cheers for the advice

Except the muppets who couldn't read "I am tired of not using one and don't want to go back to using an IKEA bag"

Think I may go for the RAB one.

How about the superslacker?

I can hold 3 ropes(just) in mine or sinch it down to hold one. It only has one shoulder strap so no use what so ever for anything more than a 10 minute walk in.

Hello mate,

I have two, a wild country one:

http://www.actionoutdoors.co.uk/shop/wild-country-infinity-rope-bag-p-1999....

And a really simple rucksack type thing from DMM.

You should get a ruck sack one, the WC one is an over the shoulder thing and its a pain in the arse to carry, especially when walking on longer approaches.

I replaced it with the DMM, 2nd hand for a tenner. Its miles better to carry.

I also hated carrying an ikea bag!

I cant really advise on which one to go for but can tell you one not to go for.

DMM Deliverance. When it first came out I read a review saying how good it was. I bought it and have regretted it every time I have used it since.

The shoulder strap is not long enough. when carrying it on its own courier style it is up around your arm pit and forget carrying it if you have a rucksack on. The fastening strap is not long enough. The quality is very poor. there are several places where the stitching is coming undone. it’s not quite big enough for a 60m rope and shoes harness etc (mainly due to the fastening strap not being long enough.

The tarpauling is good though and it is easy to get the rope into the bag.

I know a coupole of rather good climbers that would find that amusing as they use Ikea bags despit having free rope bags from their sponsors...only used when the cameras are around!

In reply to Vip1r:

Its a design classic and the straps are stronger than the wannabe version that comes free with Mammut ropes
