In reply to icejunky1: check www.remi-thivel.com (french) or www.infohielo.com (spanish). Conditions vary, it's a given. Less reliable than Alpine venues (further South). Even if the ice can stay put for a long time, there is serious avalanche danger in snowy conditions and danger of falling ice in warmer conditions (it's a very big mountain cirque with several tiers) which might preclude/discourage climbing. It can also be very busy. But it is great.
