This post is to thank all of the people involved in my rescue from an avalanche, central gully, on Ben Udlaidh on Wednesday 30th Dec. I am in the southern Hospital in Glasgow with breaks in my left leg and bruises. A very close shave which I feel very lucky to have escaped from.
I owe a huge thank you to the following:
- Alan Kimber for coming to my aid as I was lowered out of the gully, then getting to the farmhouse so quickly to alert MRT
- Jason and Graham for staying with me and helping Chris keep me warm.
- Wiggo and navy helicopter crew for the entenox gas and for appearing so quickly
- Oban MRT for being on standby
Most importantly, my partner Chris, who got me out safely, swiftly and encouraged me to swear as loudly and as often as I needed on the descent!! Great job.
I am deeply saddened by the news from Ben Nevis and Torridon.
Matt
