I have a few unexpected days off next week while my friends all still have exams.

I don't have a car so I was thinking of training/busing over to the Lake District for a few days of winter walking. I just wondered how easy it is to walk out of keswick without a car if I stay in the YH there?

Or is there anywhere else anyone would recommend I stay that has good access to the hills and easy to reach without a car??

Good choice, lots of good walks from the centre + regular buses down borrowdale, to thirlmere etc. Gentle stroll round the lake for an easy day. Pubs full of drunken geordies in the evening
