I am looking for a female rock climber to be a model for a photo shoot for a global ad.
I work for a healthcare advertising agency
I have an image of what we are trying to recreate and would be grateful for any volunteers- we will pay a fee and expenses
Time is precious and we need to shoot the image in the next two weeks.
Please e mail me for more details.

Slippery slope is advertising Jamie. Downhill to hades and top roping. Being paid to stand around on severes is just the thin end of the wedge. First you'de be going up and and down to get the right picture, with perhaps bit of rope assistance after having done the same thing all afternoon. Just remember it's a gateway drug and you would start considering those high paid offers to be seen bolt clipping in Prana. Once there your fate would be sealed and you would be riding the sleazy wave of money and fame until finally you leave the stratospheric high of financial liquidity and find yourself in an agonising monetary comedown where you dry tool up 3 star classic diffs while on a toprope to fund a lifestyle of supernoodles and special brew. Tread with care

 Mattyk 11 Mar 2003
In reply to Sarah P: That photo is really blatantly been done in photoshop somebody standing up has just been rotated to fit the picture.. Tidy arse though!

I would of thought a gymnast would be a better choice for that one as they tend to do those really static holds more often than a climber..

My two pence worth...

I reckon Anni can do it, she's been demoing her lock offs on my pull up bar... and she'll do anything for money...

Anni.. have a go... whats the worst that can happen.. break an ankle?

MattyK

OP Anonymous 11 Mar 2003
In reply to Mattyk:

You don't need a gymnast for that, it's a piece of piss. All she's doing is hanging a jug and pushing out from the wall, that doesn't take much power at all - surely most climbers could do that?
 Mattyk 11 Mar 2003
In reply to Anonymous: yeah but sticking your legs out that takes abdominal (sp.) power! and it has to be static. if you just swing into that position which would be realtively easy, you're gona look crap basically!

mat k
In reply to Sarah P:

oops. Just thought I'd try to break myself (again) by trying this on the partition of my Hermann Miller pigpen.

Result:

I'm in one piece still.

Partition is broken.
 gingerkate 11 Mar 2003

Yeah, it's not the arms (so much) it's getting your legs out at that angle!

Cpt P: Oooops........
 Carolyn 11 Mar 2003
In reply to gingerkate:

Cheers to whoever it was stuck it up on their website!

Anyway, yes, it doesn't seem to be arm strength that's most important, it's getting your legs up. Tried it at the climbing wall - fortunately no one else there to watch. Or maybe it's unfortunate, I'm sure they would have joined in the experiment....

Its not as hard as it looks, if you can do a front lever easily enough, its not much harder than that.

Why don't you ask a gymnast? You'd have a lot better chance of finding a girl who could do it then... (and they might not be as interested in talking 'crap' like us climbers )I'm reasonable strong and 'thuggy' for a female climber, and I can hold a position like that for about half a second!
 gingerkate 12 Mar 2003
In reply to sarah philp:
Marita is probably right. You need not just 'a female climber' you need a very very good female climber. If I were you I'd email some people........ Mick Ryan comes to mind......... and ask them for suggestions.

Does it have to be someone in the UK?

errr - it has. You can see that the girls legs are not in the right position and her hair is hanging wrong and the rock, the girl and the background don't match up and you can see where the individual items have been cut around....

Although probably not in a shaving ad. I dunno, bearded ladies just don't seem to be in vogue these days...

O Mighty Tim 12 Mar 2003
In reply to sarah.p: Sarah, cutting to the chase, this ISN'T that difficult, for any of the girls on here.
Big jug to swing from, and swing legs up, while pushing with the free hand.
"CLICK!"

I dunno about a 1/2 second, decent photographer will want the right position for about a 1/1000...
Repeat for 72 shots, and relax?

Ladees, if there's money up for grabs, go for it!

So, anyone know WHERE this 'neck like' boulder may be?

In reply to Sarah P:

Okay, let's cut the crap.

If you already have an image (and you have), why not simply employ somebody with good enough graphic skills to make a decent attempt at a picture using graphic techniques?

Why does it have to be 'authentic' - you're going to fiddle with it anyway to put the plaster between the hands (i.e climber unable to pull plaster off 'neck' rock)?

It's only an advert for a bloody (pun intended) sticking plaster, after all.
