In reply to UKC News: Well done, regardless of Grade. Line looks magnificent.
 TobyA 18 May 2010
In reply to UKC News: Good effort.

That's a great picture of Dave. He looks like he has done something rather naughty but it is pretty confident about getting away with it.

In reply to UKC News:

Excellent news. I look forward to hearing more. Could be interesting though, as he has previously stated that he doesn't believe E10 exists, let alone E12.

In reply to Dave Warburton: indeed, but I like most, I'm sure would take just a little satisfaction in hearing his verdict on the grade. Only following http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=345527

MacLeod doesn't believe that E12 exists, either...

Curious that this news appears on the same day as the news of an onsight solo of Indian Face?... Are UKC testing what we are and are not prepared to swallow?

Can't remember who did this but am fairly sure it's from a series of portraits of iconic UK climbers that was on exhibiton at Kendal Wall over the winter..

Ed Luke took the photo. The series of portraits is brilliant.

haha I knew he would do this about a week before he did becase I met him in a pub like 3 miles from the walk of life
In reply to quarryboy:

only 10 replies...?

perhaps everyone is too busy debating the fictitious indian face ascent to comment on a fantastic piece of climbing that actually did take place...

Well there's not exactly a lot of information to comment on yet! You can be sure that once Mr Birkett opines on the grade the number of comments will shoot up.

People think repeating an E5 isn't that impressive I suppose...
In reply to Coel Hellier:

 Michael Gordon 20 May 2010
In reply to UKC News:

So where is the report? Come on, this is just teasing!
 Jack Geldard 20 May 2010
In reply to Michael Gordon: Yeah, the 24 hour news team are still working on it!

Coming soon!!!
 catt 20 May 2010
In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC:

48hr news team? The mob is getting impatient!
 Jack Geldard 20 May 2010
In reply to catt: Even us at UKC don't work 48 hours a day. Well actually Mick Ryan probably does.

Anyway - it is now live: http://www.ukclimbing.com/news/item.php?id=53538

And a big thanks to Dave Birkett and Andy Mitchell for getting the info to us and the photos to us so quickly.

They are both at work, without internet connections, so it is really good that we get stuff this quickly.

Thanks again.

And good effort to Dave!

 BelleVedere 20 May 2010
In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC:

Sorry if that came across as impatient - it wasn't, more keen

No it doesn't look like a slab from below, just a huge piece of smooth rock

Good effort, Dave!
