In reply to mypyrex: From a previous thread on a related topic:

The British College of Optometrists has provided the following information in relation to this matter “The prescribing and dispensing of spectacles are very closely linked and it would be in your best interests to have your spectacles dispensed where you have your eyes examined. It is often more difficult to resolve any issues you may have with your spectacles when prescribing and supply are separated."

I would suggest the same applies to prescription sunglasses.

I used to use the Adidas Elevation Climacool from http://www.gosportsspex.co.uk/

The one issue I found was with my strong prescription and the curvature of the glasses things became distorted when using the insert. For example they looked too close and too steep. Eventually I went back to using normal prescription glasses which were tinted instead.

In reply to mypyrex: I looked into this stuff years ago, then decided it was all getting too expensive and had my eyes laser corrected instead.
That was five years ago, and the only thing I can't see is why everyone hasn't done it

In reply to Tree: ' the only thing I can't see is why everyone hasn't done it ' Because your eyesight will change within the next 10 years and you'll be back to wearing glasses again! Sorry about that.

Mine are called airquest but i think the replacement is canyon.

And they have been fantastic.
Primarily for mountain biking i've used them for climbing, motorbikes, driving and in fact virtually any activity everytime there's a bit of sun.
Great for long days outdoors. They're tough and pretty damage resistant... providing you don't drop them on to gravel then grind them in with your foot.

The only thing you'll have problems getting from your optician is your pupil distance (i think).

I went for brown polarised lenses which are great at handling quick changes between light and dark (e.g. popping into trees on your bike). I've never had a problem with them steaming up and they work well into the gloaming so you won't be fumbling for your normal glasses until it's almost dark.

If you're going to use them with a bike/motorbike helmet i'd recomend thin legs so they fit easier over/under/in to straps or pads.

i could go on but i won't. buy them, they're great.
