I can get by with my ancient ones for this summer but I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a new pair in Kathmandu when I go there in October. Any recommendations?

In reply to mypyrex:

If you want to use them in winter you might find flick-lock mechanisms easier to use then the twist-lock ones.

Other than that, they just sticks, innit?

In reply to steev: How do flick-locks work? Sorry to sound ignorant.

In reply to mypyrex:

The flick-locks have a little catch that you operate with your thumb. Find them less prone to ice and easier to use with gloves on than the normal leki type ones.

In reply to mypyrex: the alpkit ones are cheap (and decent)
