I am new to climbing and recently bought a pair of Boreal Aces at the suggestion of a friend who climbs. I will mostly climb indoors and am wondering if these shoes will be sufficient for me as a new climber...I would ask my friend, but he is out of town for a while....any help would be greatly appreciated...

Okay I just registered and would like to add to my above post....should I look into getting a different shoe for now? Basically, I am looking for a shoe that I can learn with and will be able to last me for a while until I know what I want type of climbing I want to do....

In reply to HCK: This may be a really obvious answer, but here goes anyway - take 'em down the climbing wall and try them out. You'll soon see if they're the right ones for u or not

In reply to Niall:
The reason I thought I would ask is if the answer was a horrendous no, then I could return them w/o having used them

Boots are good for beginners, if you intend to follow the righteous path of a good knarly grit trad foundation.
Personally I found aces hampered my foot work. And a slightly more sensitive pair may be better.

However, virtually all beginners have lousy footwork and almost without exception you will trash a first pair very quickly. So that said, in 6 months you'll be more skilled, more knowledgeable, & better informed, then you will want to spend some more money. Just keep the cost down, and make sure they are really comfy.

Are they comfortable to wear round the house but tight enough that there are no spaces in them? Can you get a thin pair of socks on with them? If you can say yes to all these you may look at these reviews of them. They seem to be a good all day shoe so you should not wear them out too fast;
