Heya

I am looking for some input concerning Rucksacks for Ski-Mountaineering on behalf of a friend who is planning to do the Haute traverse.

He had a look at a few but it seems very hard to find rucksacks where one is able to attach the skis to the rucksack.

Has anyone got some experience with this kind of stuff?

thanks a lot

In reply to holysock: Hey, we have a fair few packs with ski carry systems:

I'll post up some more details for you when I'm in the office tomorrow
In reply to holysock: Eh?!?!?

Loads of rucksacks have ski attachments suitable for ski mountaineering....especially as your mate will spend the huge majority of time with his planks on his feet rather than on his rucsac. I'd go so far as to say it would be hard not to find a pack with ski attachments on.

Have a look at climbing packs in the 30-40 L bracket made by Black Diamond, Osprey, Grivel, Lowe Alpine, Berghaus, The North Face, Mountain Equipment, Aiguille, Pod, mammut, Marmot, Tiso, Haglofs, Salomon, OMM, Crux, Macpac, Deuter, Ortovox to name but a few........

You'd have to pack pretty light to get away with a sack that small though, so how about.....

In reply to holysock: I've got a BCA stash BC. Overall i'm really pleased with it. It carries well even with skies attached and has an excellent hydration system built in and so far seems really hard wearing.

In reply to holysock: Any sac with compression sacs will allow you to carry skis, although ther are more specialised systems. As suggested, most sacs designed for mountaineering are suitable so I'm not sure where you're friend has been looking

In reply to holysock:
Most sacs with side compression straps will do, or put the skis together and put the across the top of the sac and put the lid over them
