By special request here is Gordon's remarkable performance, guesting with the well known Rocktalk band 'Up Where the Brave Go' at Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
the song is the well known Classic, 'Is Your Toprope too Tight ? and here are the words
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHwCwW6nUvQ
Is your toprope too tight?
Is your toprope too tight?
Do you miss the on-sight?
Are you sorry we started to cheat?
Does your memory stray
To a bolder summer day
When I risked all and led Hairless Heart?
Do the ticks in your guidebook seem puerile and drear?
Do you gaze at the high crags and wish you were there?
Is your heart filled with shame?
Shall I climb trad again?
Tell me, dear,
Is your toprope too tight?
I wonder if my toprope’s too tight
You know someone said that 'Because it's there'
We each must lead a route.
Ale had me lying in pub when I said I'd climb free.
Act One was when I led - I used aid at every chance.
You fed the rope so cleverly, and never missed a cue.
And then came Act Two:
Our tactics changed,
Topropes were arranged
On routes that would never go.
Honey, you lied when you said I climbed well,
And I had no cause to doubt you.
But I'd rather go on hearing your lies
Than go on climbing without your aid.
Now the rock is bare
And I'm dangling here
With nothingness all around,
And if holds don’t come quick for me,
Then you must lower me right back down.
Is your heart filled with shame?
Shall I lead once again?
Tell me, dear,
Is my toprope too tight?
