In reply to Euge:
Was there yesterday (Mon 31st).
The freezing level (and snowline) scooted quite a long way up the mountain on Sunday night, and further up on the Monday. We carried out skis as far as the blunt ridge between Lurchers and Coire an Lochan and managed to link enough snow patches to battle our way into the gale to get to the top of Lurchers, despite being blown over and backwards a few times (how Innes and Co. managed to put up some mad hard new routes is beyond me - maximum respect).
The snow cover up Lurchers was pretty hard and icy, but with a slightly wet and slushy surface coating. Any loose snow will have been blown a long way away by now. From what we could see, that would have been the same for the plateau but there were quite a few patches of rocks sticking out of the snow cover (eg to the N of spot ht 1083 on that ridge) where the previous day it had been all white.
Walking back to the ski centre, what had been a treacherous icy path was completely bare.
Cheers,
Lex
