I have a set of these for off road - love 'em, light and run true.

My alternative wheelset, for commuting and everyday (non race) use are dying, mainly due to ongoing abuse and lack of love.

So question is are a cheaper alternative worth looking at or do I go with over spec'd bling?

Cheers

In reply to Lurking Dave:

Depends how likely the wheels are to get nicked on your commuter. If the bike is kept somewhere secure you could get some cheaper hope hoops (or another factory wheel with decent cartridge bearings) that would outlast cheapo wheels for abusive usage.

Depends on your budget! They're obviously over-speced for commuting but then I've seen people commuting on £5k Trek Madones...

If I could afford them for a commuter, I'd go with it. They're a nice wheelset.

Superstar Components also do some very well reviewed custom wheelsets at various competative pricepoints - worth a look on their website.
