On my way to Manchester Airport a week ago I had to make an urgent 'phone call. However, every time I dialled the number I heard some sort of multi-tone bleeps and then got a message to say the call had ended. I tried about eight times on mine(Vodafone) and the Mrs tried on her - same thing happened and she is also on Vodafone. Anyone know what might have caused this?

I'll also ask on the Vodafone forum.

In reply to Pursued by a bear: Definitely not at the time. Clear blue skies.

Maybe the ground RADAR of an over flying plane was producing, in effect to you, a jamming signal?

It's probably best to rig a few extra car batteries in your boot, and with a little bit of white mans magic boost your mobile phones signal by a few kilowatts to give it that burn through strength.

Its because of the cold callers, they've put a virus on your phone cause you won't talk to them :-p
