Beacon Climbing Walls have nearly finished construction of a large new section of roped climbing walls at The Cragg, Stowmarket. This development replaces some of the older Cragg walls, as well as adding new walls to give 270sqm of climbing and an impressive 27 extra rope lines. The new walls will provide a great variety of angles and styles including an abseil platform, crack feature and a dyno wall.
The adjacent Beacon bouldering wall has also had a face lift with a fresh paint job and a smart carpet top for the matting.
Both the bouldering and the new roped walls will be open for business from the 7th June.
Grand Opening with Johnny Dawes on Saturday 11th June
To celebrate the opening of the new walls Johnny Dawes will be coming to The Cragg to run some of his infamous coaching sessions and to give a lecture.
Masterclasses
Johnny has an unique coaching style and will be running classes from 10.30am-12.30pm and 2pm-4pm. Cost £35 per person. The following quote from Dawes gives a flavor of what you can expect:
“You do not learn so much as become reacquainted with your dormant kinaesthetic system; a process I call "declumsification". If you think of yourself as unco-ordinated rest assured that you are much more able potentially than you would likely imagine.”
Lecture
Described as an unusual show Johnny will be recounting some of his many, often ground breaking climbing adventures in his inimitable style with a mix of video, readings, drawings and of course humor. The lecture starts at 5pm and costs £7.50
Book early for both events to avoid disappointment and take advantage of the special offer price of just £40 if you book the Masterclass and lecture together.
