My trusty alpkit phud has reached the end of its life and needs replacing - I boulder a lot and appreciate some cushioning - do people reckon its worth paying the extra £50 for a higher end pad (metolius bailout BD drop zone?) are they worth the extra cash in terms of not breaking my ankles?

In reply to ebdon: Is the cover still alive? you can replace the foam pretty easily: http://www.alpkit.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=16204&...

In reply to remus: unfortunatly the cover and foam are knackered after many years of use and abuse -its probably quite dangerous to use now as all it does is lull me into a false sense of security!

If you boulder a lot I would probably go with a Moon pad like the Warrior - if it does wear out there service is meant to be excellent. Or a Pod which people seem to like or the Snap pads get good reviews the calzone if you can track them down in the UK rock and run have a couple I think.

Not sure what people think about the Hog pads http://www.climbingfactory.co.uk/products.html

Hope that helps

I vote for Alpkit - a good price for good kit
