A quick reminder that the usual summer restrictions now apply to all of the cliffs above the Marine Drive on the Great Orme, with the exception of routes and problems around the Parisellas cave and Mumbo-Jumbo areas.
As part of the long term agreement between the BMC and local council who manage the Great Orme, in order to protect pedestrians and cars using the Marine Drive from the risk of falling rock, there is a long term agreement that climbing on all routes above the Marine Drive is not allowed before 6pm between July 15th and September 8th, and during all bank holiday weekends.

The reasons for this is that due to the increased number of general visitors using the Marine Drive during these periods, Conwy Council's safety officers felt that there was a higher risk of any falling rock caused by climbers injuring passing visitors or falling onto passing cars during these times.

In the last few weeks there have been significant access gains for climbers on the Ormes and its imperative that climbers stick to these long term agreements if these gains are to be maintained. During the last few weekends the Country Park Wardens have been reporting climbers on the cliffs during the restricted times, and this is a reminder that despite the new access gains the seasonal restrctions still remain. As always before climbing on any crag it's always a good idea to check the most up to date access information on the BMC's Regional Access Database -http://www.thebmc.co.uk/bmccrag/ViewCrag.aspx?id=830

The only routes above the road that are not affected are the Parisella cave and Mumbo-Jumbo areas.
