A minor issue with regards to parking at Stoney has been highlighted...

I guess people should bear this in mind when parking there.

I talked to Adrian Heath last night whilst climbing at Stoney. He's a cool guy. He wants more people to climb at Stoney and he was a massive help last year at the Stoney do.

"A Very Special Thanks

A very special mention to Adrian Heath, the owner of the Lover's Leap Garage and most of Stoney where we climb. Adrian gave us permission to hold this weekends event, allowed access for cars to the parking and supplied us with water. Adrian is a guardian of the area as well as owner, and he takes great pride in the upkeep of the Stoney Middleton dale which is used for other outdoor activties as well as climbing. Thank you Adrian on behalf of the climbing community. "

But yes don't park at the entrance to Goddard's quarry across from Adrian's garage.

If only more landowners were like Adrian.

If you need your car fixed Adrian is your man.

Cheers,

Stoney already has one of the shortest walk-ins of any crag in the Peak when you park in the lay-by.

Dear OP on UKB

Maybe a good idea to apologise to Adrian....unless you already have privately.

There is no access problem whatsoever, just a bit of hot hotheadedness on your part.

Stoney is used by rope climbers and boulderers alike, many climbers go to both sites (UKB is one of UKC's biggest referrers).

Good to flag this on both UKC and UKB for the good of us all. Climber behaviour is a big threat to climber access.

Lesson to be learned. When dealing with businesses/locals etc near a crag, please be diplomatic and not hot headed.

Cheers,

Mick
