Does anyone make a mixed filling sleeping bag?
Knowing that down in the base of a sleeping bag gets compressed and is therefore less effective, and that synthetic insulations are supposedly less susceptible to this. To me it would seem common sense to have a mixed filling sleeping bag where the base is something like primaloft and the top down?
I have a cheap Gelert sleeping bag that has this design and despite the fit not being excellent (it's quite roomy) the down being fairly poor quality duck down, and the base insulation being non branded cheapo stuff it weighs in around 1.6kg and does pretty well down to ~-10 c.

Just thinking that with a trimmer design to remove dead space and reduce weight, add to this better materials and you'd have a really good bag.

some people do make bags like this, but I can't remember who. Possibly Camp do.

I bought one of these. Will try it out in November. Be warned sea to summit bags are small . I am 6' and the regular was too short for me.

hmm, that's a different take on the subject, it will be good to see how it does although at £560 I don't think I'll be rushing to the shops.
