How can Petzl go to such great lengths to produce inovative new crampons and still leave them with that sketchy heel bail?? I wonder how soon before there's a recall on them?

because it can undo to easily whilst climbing (ie the strap should go through the top of the plastic clip not the bottom)?

well expensive too those crampons £190 rrp!!!

I've used Petzl Heel bales for years on Charlet Moser S12s and Petzl Sarkens and never had a problem with the bail. The argument for the strap coming off the bottom is that if you over tighten the strap it pulls the bail on tighter rather than levers it off as it would attached at the top.

Hmmmm I've never had a problem with it attached to the top, but my post was a question rather than a statement as I've not used petzl crampons
