A debate on Winter Ethics is being held on Wednesday November 30th after the Lakes Area AGM. The debate will start at 8:30pm, so arrive between 8 and 8:30 and grab some food....

Speakers include Max Biden (FRCC Langdale guidebook writer), Dave Birkett and Simon Webb from Natural England; Nick Colton will be in the chair keeping things moving.
Issues on the agenda are : winter ascents of summer rock routes, dry-tooling, damage to vegetation and the rock, protection, guidebook guidance on these issues, and the development of a winter code.
A 'White Guide' is in the process of being produced in Wales and this is likely to be extended to cover England, the debate will help to inform the content of this guide. and we are hoping to have a draft available for comment.
