 Topic - Mountain Equipment G2 Alpine Jacket

I tried on one of these soft shells today and nearly bought it - loved the cut and the movement in the sleeves - but hesitated from parting with the cash on account of the rollaway hood, which I reckoned would be a waste of time as an actual hood but a quite bulky when rolled into the high-ish collar.
Anyone got any practical experience of the hood on this jacket, OR can recommend a similar softshell, sans hood?
