Looking for any recommendations for cheap and cheerful self catering apartments in chamonix town that could squeeze a bunch of scrounging climbers in for a week or two this summer. Anyone know anything that fits the bills? 1 or 2 bedrooms, but owners that aren't fussy about using the floor space as a bed also.

In reply to tipsy: Any suggestions from anyone?
In reply to tipsy: any old cham-sud apartment should fit the bill.

'good owners, good chalets in good location' keen to rent to 'scrounging climbers' who plan to exceed capacity with mates sleeping on the floor. Can you see any problems? Take a tent, it will be much cheaper!

In reply to tipsy: Well we could be obtuse and pretend that no-one ever exceeds capacity, or we could be honest and admit that it's long been a practice in Chamonix and other climbing areas of people to rent 1 or 2 bedroom flats that sleep 4, and perhaps bunk an extra 4 down on the floor on the rare occasion we're actually all there at the same time rather than in the mountains.

We're not wasters, we're not going to trash the place. We'd just like to save a bit of money, have more comfort for wet weather days, and don't mind sleeping on the floor.

I'd never rent my place in the Alps out knowing it will be over-filled. It will invalidate insurance and, should there be a fire or something, I really don't think the local Sapier-pompiers will be too happy.
Have you thought about the 'refuge' type palces in Cham? There are a few bunkhouses etc and then you only need pay for the nights you stay. Many are quite good at storing a bag or two whilst you're away. Will be cheaper than renting a place and not using it half the time.

Alternative: Try http://www.latapia.com/ really nice accomodation, where you pay pr night, and they are willing to store bags. Has nice kitchen/lounge.
http://www.chamoniard.com/ is right next to it, same price, but kitchen/loungs area is not as nice as Latapia...
