Peregrines on Dow

Peregrines are nesting and have young in the area of B Buttress above Giant's Crawl. Climbers are requested to avoid the upper pitches of Nimrod to Catacomb inclusive. Giant's Crawl itself appears to be OK as do other routes elsewhere on Dow but please apply common sense if birds appear seriously alarmed.

The National Park Ranger would like to thank the climbers who have contacted the park about these birds.

In reply to Stephen Reid:

Yes same on Raven crag in Langdale just right of Centipede, you are alright to do Centipede but any further right would definately disturb the chicks.

In reply to Stephen Reid: I climbed Catacomb 2 weeks ago, and confess to disturbing the peregrines. There is a nest at the 2nd belay. It came as a surprise to us. Tbh I was more concerned about the initial moves on P3 in windy conditions. Please apologise to the birds
