Hi there,

My friend and I want to go climbing near nice, france. We are both fairly new to climbing and are trying to find out if there is any sport climbing in the area that isn't too technical. We currently can manage upto 5b on climbing walls.

In reply to mjason: http://www.urbanrock.com/l-escalade-dans-les-alpes-maritimes should see you right for a fairly comprehensive guide if you can deal with rubbish topos. rockfax cote d'azur has the area around monaco and st jeannet in a nice format which should give you plenty to go at.

then type in Nice France in the <search by location> field and adjust your radius to whatever suits your requirements.

In short, there's a huge amount in the area, but prepare for a spanking, the routes at that grade are mostly very well travelled and getting quite polished now. They're also quite 'old school' in their grading!
