I have a PhD researcher looking at MHT collections today & considering commercialism in mountaineering. Off shoot of this is British Mountain Guides - is there any administrative history written about this organisation?

Didn't a bunch of British guides build a road up the Chinese side of Everest with an hotel at the end of it?

There was nothing but a monastery when i was there, 20 years ago. The "road" if you can call it such, was no more than a slightly flatter path than the surrounding boulders.
