The recent threads on worn gear led me to have a close look at my reverso 3. There was a 90 angle produced by wear on the channel leading to the climber, probably caused by abseiling. Petzl offer advice on all gear wear and maintenance here:
http://www.petzl.com/files/all/technical-notice/both/protecting-equipment-t... and it shows belay plates about halfway down. Key things are a recommendation to replace after 1mm wear (oops,) and sharp edges can be smoothed by sandpaper.
