AT Hobnails and crampons

Would it work to bung on a few hobnails (where they won't interfere with crampons) to deal with slippery walk-ins?

I've always been intrigued by the screw-in types. I know for a fact that regular old fashioned nails can't be fitted to rubber soled boots.
