In reply to Grinshill: Murderously steep uphill that goes on forever, then flat to the Devils's Chair to allow you to get your breath back, but it is taken away again by the speed of the leaders already on their way back.
Return by same route except the steep bit up now becomes a thigh burning arse sliding down, dodging the Dawdlers. I gave myself such a head shaking I pulled a muscle in my neck, which was agony for days. Overtook loads!
And don't forget the little short downhill on the approach - now becomes a sapping uphill (for only 30m or so!) - where I pulled a calf muscle - and the loads that I had overtaken laughed at me hobbling the final 200m drop to the pub as they streamed past me.
Great race - lovely atmosphere, all for charity and far better than eating even more turkey.
