Hi
Im a long relapsed returner to the faith.
After deciding my 25 years plus old gear probably best left in the past for safety and confidences sake, i am rebuilding a new rack from scratch.
Due to having virtually no dosh, i am having to do this slowly, johnny cash style, one piece at a time.
Now then, as well as slings etc, Im gonna go with a set of wallnuts. And a set of four torquenuts. The shop tells me four torquenuts will take the place of a full set of old camp hexes.
Really? Any comparison experience/opinions?
I have never used camming devices. We used to make our own cams in horizontal cracks using runners in opposition, and awkward flared vertical cracks piggybacking a hex and a wallnut.
As camming devices are prohibitively expensive. Ie each one costs more than a weeks money for me. Would they make a significant contribution to safety in marginal situations to be worth saving up for this time?
Cheers Ta
Ned
ps. Any opinions on bd atc versus dmm bug?
