Hi,

A group of us (eight in total) are heading out to Kalymnos. Can anyone recommend a large apartment or apartment complex for a group of this size in Massouri?

In reply to IanF: Kokkinidis Apartments run by Rita bus drops you off by the door, Rita runs Kokkinidis restaurant in the square which is great spot to eat.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. Are Rita's apartments outside of Massouri? I've googled for them, but can only find the Kokkinidis restaurant. Do you have a web address or email for the apartments?

I and a group of about 20 others stayed here ( http://www.aegeanhome.gr/getting-to-kalymnos/ ) this Easter and found it fantastic! Very agreeable owner and fantastic amenities in Massouri . We were all walking to the crags and wasn't too far although a moped would be a bonus I'm sure! Especially for any further a field. Basic cooking apparatus but also the price of the restaurants wasn't much more than the cost of buying your own ingredients.

In late October six of us stopped at Vouros Palace and they were fantastic.

Think they have 8 twin bedrooms.
First floor has access to communal patio.
Kitchen is really minimal and is on the second floor.

They also own the Prego restaurant below and this serves good food at good prices.
Came recommended by Simon Rawlinson (Dynamic Rock, Swansea) A good call.
Would definitely go again.

We also stayed a vouros place, it had hot water everyday which seems to be abit of a bonus on Kaly The breakfast they provide is awesome

Walk in was probably 20 mins to half an hour, (but take that with a pinch of salt, my memory is pretty vague) to Grande Grotta / Afternoon Wall area, although depending on fitness as it's fairly steep going from the road up to the Grotta. Dolphin Bay and Kastelli were further but if your a small party hitching is a very viable option. Any of us who tried were picked up by on average the second car that went past. Often not a word exchanged by either party as we knew no Greek and they no English. To Poets and Stankill sectors were about 20 - 30mins too.

Fani's Apartments are really good, they are just outside (on the right end) of Massouri in Armeos which means you are closer to Grande Grotta, Odyssey etc and it means you don't have to lug your kit around as much.

The walk into Massouri centre takes about ten mins. It's much cheaper than other places as well (we paid 600 euros between four of us for a month) She also has a little mini market where you can get fresh bread, pies and cakes every morning. She also has the best homemade olive oil in town as well. http://www.triantafillos.gr/ Website is being made by the looks of it.

Vouros Palace is in walking distance of crags. On the crag side of the centre of the town. Didn't try the breakfasts downstairs due to wanting to get climbing before the heat got too much.

Don't think any of the crags are too far to walk really.

Kitchen has a fridge. Only had a two ring burner when we were there but did had other gas rings in the kitchen. If in doubt, mail Stavros and he'll tell you about the set up.

We walked to Kastelli (dissapointing crag) but caught the 9.20am bus around to the crags to the north. Bus returns around 5.30pm. It cost one whole Euro each way so we did not bother with car hire or scooter hire. If considering car hire get one from the port on arrival not Massouri!!!

Nikki/Antonis supermarket is the one to use. Man is full of info and worked in the petro chemical industry and he will tell you the world is doomed. Really, really helpful guy though.
