 Topic - recommendations 1st disc brake mb

I have recently caught the MB bug & have quickly found the limitations of v brakes on steep routes & trails.
I am looking at getting a bike with disc brakes but need a little help or some recommendations.
I am also torn between hardtail/ full suspension.
I want a bike for medium length routes(up to 4 hours) & suitable for use on purpose built red/black trails.
Maximum budget £1,000 but would be happier to spend £5-600 if I am not going to gain much more for the extra £400/500.
