In reply to The Lemming:
I like this one...the storm started rolling in as i was kitesurfing so made a quick decision to get out of the water.
Within 5-10 mins the clouds started to stream out like smoke:
In reply to The Lemming: I was quite pleased with this one of Norwegian singer Ane Brun taken at WOMAD. It's no great shakes by any measure but she was a fair way off and the lighting conditions were testing.
I've got a load of stuff that I either haven't printed yet or haven't scanned. The choice of what's online is limited, but I like those two that I shared.
Indeed...especially if you are at sea attached to a huge kite!
In the end, however, it al came to nothing and just blew away with hardly a drop of rain
Yes they are. We were just ambling along in the van and went past these beauties - it would have been rude not to stop for a short while.

In reply to The Lemming: TC those are magnificent. Honourable mention for Mikkel (where did that come from?) and Blue S. Chris JD really lovely photo but why quite so much PS? spoils it for me a bit
In reply to The Lemming: I'd forgotten about these three pictures; one of a poppy, one of a rose, one of a marigold. Taken in the garden on the rare occasions the sun shone last summer. Again, no great shakes - I offer no expertise as such, just enthusiasm - but I was very happy with how they turned out.
In reply to The Lemming: There are some fabulous images linked to so far. I've commented on some on flickr but two general comments; there are some damn good photographers on here, and doesn't weather (good or bad) make for a good shot...
Damn - a lot of good stuff to go through up there - I don't think I've had a particularly productive year (not helped by the very premature 'death' of a new compact camera', one that I'd hoped to allow me to improve my 'on the hill' or 'on the route' shots), but here's the stuff I've felt 'better' about than the rest, organised roughly thematically, and the one's I've rated (as opposed to what other people have rated):
In reply to The Lemming: Some really great shots folks! I've taken quite a lot that I'm happy with this year but I think this is still my favourite if not my best...
In reply to The Lemming: love those first 3 of Chalk's and most of PP's but to me excessive post processing to the point of loss of the original acquisition has got badly out of hand in photography in general and many of the landscapes on this thread illustrate the point perfectly

Sometimes, but often extraordinary light can make an image look as though it's been over done in PP...for instance, this one looks to me almost HDR but it's more or less straight out of the camera!
In reply to Nicholas Livesey: nice picture but in many ways you illustrate my point because nowadays people would look at that result of remarkable lighting and their first response would be "yawn, photoshop strikes again"
ps. I pretty much love most things on this thread. The main thing I like is the diversity of shots you all like as well as how good you all are at making the images!
In reply to janiejonesworld and his/her potty mouth:
I think you've unnecessarily over-saturated your own language there. Remember, this is a public forum with a wide diversity of readers (ie, ages!)
In reply to Tall Clare: Thanks! 'Twas at the airshow in Wanaka - it's some anti heat-seeking missile defence thing and the smoke followed the vortices created by the wings. I just happened to be pointing at it with a 300mm lens attached and pressed the shutter button more out of surprise than actual conscious desire to take a photo.
