Just watched 'Ted'. Yes I know its crap, but it made me chuckle for an hour or so on a drab Tuesday evening.

So, what crap films cheer you up?

In reply to The Lemming: 50 first dates.
But who wouldn't want the opportunity to get Drew Barrimore to fall in love with you every day?

commando

heart warming to know exposure to all that unrealistic violence wasnt as harmful as they said it would be.

The Fifth Element

The bad guy gets his just desserts, good triumphs over evil, the boy gets the girl - what's not to like?

In reply to The Lemming:

Into the Blue. Except it's not crap, just cheesy

Every time I think of a suggestion, I realise that it's not crap :-$ (e.g. The Long Kiss Goodnight)

Maybe A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors?
 Blue Straggler 27 Nov 2012
In reply to hokkyokusei:

Ha, I was thinking of that whilst writing my reply just above, before seeing your suggestion.

In fact most Milla Jovovich films fit the "cheesy crap but cheers the boys up" critera in the OP

L.A. Story, one of my favourite films and I can't understand why.

Also not really crap but watched Crocodile Dundee yet again last weekend & found it just so much fun for a pretty corny film.

Personally, Groundhog Day always cheers me up.
 Blue Straggler 27 Nov 2012
In reply to The Lemming:

I've only seen it once, in the cinema, but I reckon Vantage Point would always draw me in. Ludicrous action thriller that pretends to be a "political conspiracy" thriller. Doesn't matter. Dennis Quaid is an utter dude in it, and has a magic indestructible car. Who could want more?!

thats so not a crap cheesy film...well, maybe the loveydovey ending was a bit cheesy

but that aside it is actually an intelligent thought-provoking film

Cheesy crap? I've only seen it the once, when it was new out, and can't really remember, but I wouldn't have thought that fitted the 'crap' definition. didn't it win some oscars?

In reply to The Lemming: I'm afraid to have to admit to it but I love Charlie's Angels. Even worse than that, I also love Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Story-wise they are appalling, I just like to imagine I'm a kick ass crimefighter.

THE SHAME!

My offer for this one is "2 Weeks Notice"!

My favourite chick flick, just makes me smile and I don't really know why.

Well I can see it has..... certain attractions....

In reply to The Lemming:

Most of my cheer-up cheesy films are chop-socky films:

Drunken Master
Iron Monkey
Wu Tang Magic Kick
Shaolin Temple
Karate Kid (the Macchio/Morita one)

Although if I am really fed up I need an hour or two of Bagpuss or Clangers rather than a movie.

Top Gun
Nico - Armed and Dangerous (Seagal running - hilarious!)
Short Circuit
(watched this on Sunday and nearly cured hellish hangover)
Caddyshack (Mitch Cumstein anyone?)

There's so many more - my taste in films is terrible.

On this theme - On Deadly Ground, particularly the shamanic dream journey sequence with completely superfluous topless dancing girls in the background. You can picture the final screening before release, high fives all round and then someone smacks their forehead and shouts 'shit - there's no nipples in it! quick, film someone with their baps out and cut it in somewhere, anywhere!!'

In reply to The Lemming:

Grosse Point Blank and Happy Gilmour, though they are maybe more dated than cheesy and crap, though they are very good.

Also Highlander

Also LEXX (I know not a film as such but the pilot was and anyway i just wanted an excuse to mention Lexx. I worship his divine shadow)

I watched that this year and was underwhelmed Reviews suggest the recent remake is far nastier....so I might watch that!
