Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good safe spot to practise (learn) ice axe braking not too far from Manchester? Somewhere with a safe runout but steep enough to be realistic.... Maybe middle moor above hayfield?

Thanks in advance

You could argue that without snow it is merely a form of dry-tooling....

Did anyone else worry that they were smudging the drawing?

In reply to scottidog: I have used the east side of Alderman - approaching from Binn Green car park in the Dove Stone area.
