I am a BMC member and have started logging hours for my SPA award but have not attended training yet.

How much am I allowed to do if assisting/shaddowing a SPA holder who is instructing a group on a local crag, for example can I belay/supervise bouldering?

I would say its up to the instructor/company. i have had people doing set ups, demos etc alongside myself as i think its a really useful insight and way of gaining experience before training and between assessment.

Bolton Council Outdoor Education Team is always looking for help with sessions. You may even get them to pay for your training and assessment in return for assisting.
