I have a friend that bought that deal from peglars. It ended up taking 2 months for him to get his stuff. They kept on delaying it and eventually had to refund him some money and gave him a free cam. He did get it eventually and it was all good. Im sure it was a one off.

A company I have used recently which have been very good is V12 outdoor. They have a trad rack deal as well. Here's a link:

In reply to Michael MacArthur:
Peglers are very friendly and certainly genuine although I think they will sell stuff they dont have in yet, and hence take a long time to deliver. This happened to me recently where I bought a bouldering mat and it took about 3-4 weeks or something rather than 3-4 days. They were apologetic and threw in a free chalkbag. If its urgent, go elsewhere.
In reply to Michael MacArthur:

Needlesports in Keswick have good prices and quick delivery. They have a suggested starter rack at http://www.needlesports.com/catalogue/content.aspx?con_id=285f8f26-74d0-457...
I don't think they do an "off the peg" starter rack as such but if you look at other sites and see what is in their offers you may be able to order it cheaper from Needleports. They do sell only quality gear. I guess if you rang them they would be able to advise you.
No - I don't work for them, just like to support small specialist shops that provide a genuine service.
In reply to Michael MacArthur: Peglers are a long-standing, small family-run business in Arundel. The climbing side is run by Dave Pegler who, in addition to being a really friendly and helpful bloke, is a rather talented climber and alpinist.

I spent £850 there in 2003 buying kit for the Alps and most recently picked up a few bits of kit from them this Summer when I was working in the South Downs National Park.

They don't carry a massive stock of climbing gear and being a small family concern I don't think they have the fancy online stock control systems of bigger firms. However, they are most certainly the sort of place that if you phone them up you will be able to speak to someone who is a knowledgeable climber and will be more than happy to help.

They don't generally compete on headline price on individual items, but I would say they are one of the best independent shops when it comes to buying a large amount of kit. In the past they have always being willing to give a worthwhile discount to large orders. IIRC, Dave was happy give me a 20% on the mountaineering kit I bought in 2003.
